While providing valuable support to us,
our product sponsors are also taking the opportunity to showcase their
equipment in a global range of conditions over a period of time that will
dramatically demonstrate their durability and effectiveness. We are happy
to be partners with them in this process as Team 2000 travels from north
to south, linking people and places in the spirit of Pole to Pole.
Cascade
Designs Thermarest and Z-Rest sleeping pads keep the team insulated
and warm at night from the minus 30 degree Celsius snow. These lightweight
pads compact into a very small space in order to reduce weight and bulk
on the sleds, which the team is hauling. The Z-Rest is a great replacement
for traditional roll-up mats which stay rolled up at extreme cold temperatures leading to a very lumpy bed. When the Thermarest and the Z-Rest are used together it results is an amazingly comfortable lightweight bed.
Fischer
Skis Fischer cross country skis are lightweight and extremely
strong. We know that each pound of weight on our feet is equal to 10 pounds
on our backs which is why these strong, lightweight skis are critical to
our speed of travel. The metal edges and fish-scale bases provide excellent
traction and stability on a terrain of all types. Not only will they help
the team travel quickly and with confidence over very rough ice, the graphics
on them are great to look at for 60 days!!
Salomon
Boots The Salomon Greenland boot is our choice of boot because
it is warm enough to handle temperatures of minus 30 degrees Celsius yet
is still lightweight. The Salomon binding system gives excellent control
over the ski, an important feature when navigating over ice blocks up to
20 feet high for several hours a day. The bindings system also reduces
strain on the boot. Our experience with other boot systems is that the
constant flexing and extreme cold can sometimes break up the boot or binding.
Slumberjack The Slumberjack sleeping system is doing a great job
of keeping the team warm. The system uses an insulator synthetic fill,
a big advantage in the damp cold of the High Arctic. This insulator will
not compress even though the condensation point and frost layer is in the
sleeping bag. During the journey the bag is increasing in weight as the
ice content increases, yet the bag still retains warmth and loft.
Smartwool Smartwool socks keep their insulating power after days
of pounding. (We are expecting 270 days of wear.) Those nasty wear holes
that come from constant use in most socks, show up much later in these
socks because of their quality. We are using 2-3 pairs each in our boots,
and carry a couple of spares so that the socks used during the day can
dry out in the tent while we cook.
MSR MSR stoves and pots provide the lightweight system for cooking. We really love these stoves because of their reliability, and their ability to throw out lots of heat when needed - a very important quality when we climb into our cold tents at the end of a long cold day. The first thing we want is heat, and fast!! The pot system is really practical, well designed and easy to clean. In extreme cold we cannot use soap for cleaning, as water for washing out the soap is not available. The food freezes fast to the pot so we want the pot to clean out easily otherwise
the breakfast tastes like the previous night's supper!!
Adventurous
Traveler Adventurous Traveler supplies us with books and roadmaps
which provide essential information about the details of the route. The
books include information on important facts of the country, money, customs,
activities, accommodations and food. This is very helpful in educating
the team while on the expedition.
CellTech Celltech provides nutritional food supplements including
Super Blue Green Algae. These daily food supplements improve athletic performance and help to boost the immune system. The teams overall health and energy levels is crucial in making this expedition successful and CellTech products assist in making this happen.
Adventure Medical Kits
These first aid kits are well organized, thorough, and easy to access. First aid kits have a tough life; they get sat on, wet, bumped and banged all over the place, yet they must perform when they are needed. We like Adventure Medical Kits because they are tough and still lightweight enough to be in the pack at all times.
Orbsat Telecommunications Services
Orbsat's Magellan GSC100 communicator is a very small, lightweight unit that allows us to receive and send e-mails from anywhere in the world. With this amazing little device we can send position reports and messages back to the office. This revolutionary technology increases our safety wherever we go.
Educo Adventure School Canada
Educo Adventure School has supported us by providing facilities and trainers for the wilderness section of the training. The Educo programmes are an excellent grounding for youth in outdoor skills and personal development.

Ocean Fun Tours has a fleet of 29 boats for hire out of Panama City. The fleet is piloted by Capt. Tomas Golder, a certified and highly
experienced captain. Captain Tomas joyfully donated his time and energy,
sailing the Pole To Pole 2000 team across an 850-mile stretch of sometimes stormy, open water from Panama City to Esmeraldas, Ecuador on the centerpiece of their large fleet, the 38 foot sailing yacht Freedom. The fleet of 29 includes motor boats of all sizes, yachts with room for private parties of 75 and boats especially designed for scientific research - used in studies for the clean-up of Panama Bay and the eradication of the Barrenador worm in the islands of the Gulf of Panama.
